Flexible Screw Conveyor with Plastic Welded Components
This unique high capacity heavy duty 3 inch flexible screw conveyor was designed to
eliminate metal from the product zone. Tech3 Manufacturing designed and fabricated
the complete conveyor using a unique plastic welding process. The natural UHMW-PE (Ultra high
molecular weight polyethylene plastic, FDA Approved) material was seam welded to produce
a high strenght, abrasive resistent hopper and drive box assembly. The only metal item
inside the product zone included a 304 stainless steel flat wire auger which was coated with a
DuPont™ Tefzel® ETFE Resin to ensure that the material being conveyed did
not have any direct contact with a metal surface.
Top Covers Fabricated Using Plastic Welding Techniques
In addition to welding complete hoppers as shown in the photo at the left we
also have the technology to design and build hopper top covers manufactured
with 1/4 inch thick UHMW-PE (Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene plastic, FDA Approved).
The top cover interfaces with the discharge of a bulk bag unloader by utilizing a 12 inch
diameter formed ring x 3 inches tall. Since this application was very dusty the customer elected
to have an external dust collection vent with a 3 inch diameter x 3 inch high plastic ring.
Top covers are available in different sizes and configurations to meet your application needs.
The cover in the photo has been mounted on a 3.5 cubic foot hopper and is 26 inches square.
Plastic Tri-clamp welded to UHMW-PE Tube
Tri-clamp ferrules can be welded to plastic tubes as shown in the photo at the left.
This new techique allows for all plastic components in the material product zone.
In addition it provides for a tool-less sanitary type connection especially
